The choice of real world game stores has been on a decline ever since web-based retail became the preferred way of getting the latest game. Add to it the complications caused by the Covid-19 pandemic and the problem of keeping brick-and-mortar stores open has become greatly exacerbated.

With all of this, video game enthusiasts have been worried about how things are turning out at their favorite game store GameStop. With GameStop greatly reducing their locations throughout America and being on the verge of bankruptcy – something unexpected happened that shook the entire stock market. The well-known chain has become a major point of discussion.

Just when all hope seemed lost – a large number of novice investors from the subreddit group WallStreetBets decided to buy as many stocks of GameStop as they possibly could leading to a surge in the price of shares of GameStop. It caused major losses to people who were betting on GameStop’s shares value to die out and gave new life to the brand on the other hand.

While the situation is still in uncertainty and the shares can still drop down to where they were before due to most stock apps blocking out the ability to purchase more GameStop shares – there is a greater chance for the company to survive than to go towards bankruptcy as of now.

And the situation is so unlikely to happen in Wall Street that there are already two movies and a TV show reportedly in development based on the topic, even though we are unaware of the conclusion at the moment. The first movie is being produced by Netflix, while MGM is producing the other one. The TV show on the other hand is being developed as a limited-series by newcomers Pinky Promise.

There are smaller-scale stories making news too, as recently a teenager who made a lot of money from the stock fiasco ended up donating a couple of Nintendo Switch consoles to a children’s hospital.

So GameStop is still in business and fortunately they’re still selling video games. Here’s the list of new arrivals available starting the first week of February.
