PlayStation 4 Reviewed: Is it worth your Money?

If you don’t have time to read the entire review… The answer is yes. The PS4 is the future of gaming and you can’t go wrong getting.

If you have the time, read on.

This article will skip on the hype and fanfare surrounding the release of the PS4 and focus on its features and benefits instead. Of course, the disadvantages have been listed too so that you have pretty good idea of what you’re getting with the PS4.

The Pros

1. Unbelievably good graphics

For starters, there is no denying that the PS4’s graphics are just unbelievably good. The interface is simple to navigate and use.

2. Awesome handheld controllers

The DualShock 4 controller that comes with the PS4 is a gamer’s dream come true and handles very well. Too bad they only include 1 controller per set and you’ll probably want to get another so you can partner up and plays games with friends or family.

3. Ability to share gameplay

The PS4 also gives gamers the ability to record and broadcast their gameplay online. It’s also a Blu-ray player.

4. Highly aesthetically pleasing appearance

Another fact that separates the PS4 from the pack is that the developers at Sony gave just as much attention to the external appearance of the product as the internal product specs. The PS4 is really aesthetically pleasing. With a half-matte and half gloss finish, the PS4 is also small, sleek and stylish.

Even the packaging the PS4 comes in is minimal. You can take it out of the box and play it within minutes unlike the Xbox One which has cardboard, plastic, countless little bits and pieces that need to be opened. By the time you open an Xbox one, half your house might need a spring cleaning.

5. Internal power supply

Another unique feature of the PS4 is that it is slim yet contains its power supply within the system. You have no external cables or wires to worry about. You are able to stand the console vertically or leave it lying horizontally. If you choose to stand it vertically, it would be a good idea to get the stand which will keep your PS4 stable and accentuate the appearance.

6. Advanced product specs

The PS4 has a single-chip processor which pairs up an eight core x86-64 AMD “Jaguar” CPU with a 1.84 teraflop GPU. You get 8GB of GDDR5 RAM, and a 500GB mechanical hard drive. All these tech talk basically translates into a system that is super-fast when it comes to loading games and prevents glitches during gameplay.

There are 2 USB ports in the front of the console. Behind the console, are the connections for the Ethernet, HDMI, digital optical audio out and a connection for the PlayStation camera.

The Cons

1. Limited media playing functions

The PS4 doesn’t play CDs, MP3s and other media that the PS3 is able to play. The PS4 seems to be more focused on the gaming which is what makes it a superior gaming rig when compared to the PS3 or even the Xbox One which do have other features. By specializing on just improving the gaming experience, Sony has more achieved its objective.

2. No backwards compatibility

The PS4 does not have backwards compatibility. So, you will not be able to use your PS3 games with it. Sony must have their reasons for doing so.

Our Conclusion

The attention to detail is unparalleled with the PS4 and we all know that the devil is in the details.

With more graphical power than the Xbox One, 32 times more system memory than the PS3 and a firm focus on pure gaming experiences rather than media might, the PS4 has established itself as the next-gen console to beat.

The PS4 is also relatively inexpensive for a new game console. It’s almost 100 dollars cheaper than the Xbox One.

Even the stand glows blue when it boots up and is reminiscent of sword that glowed blue in the presence of orcs in the Lord of the Rings movies. Very cool. The system displays a hello sign too. See, it’s all in the details.

The fact of the matter is that we can sing praises all day about the PS4 but you will only truly appreciate the PlayStation 4 once you start playing games on it. It’s a whole different experience as compared to the PS3.

The PS4 is the future of gaming. Get a set and be a part of the ride.
