The Forthcoming PS4’s Added Features

Sony’s new PlayStation 4 has been in the news for quite some time now. The console is set to launch in November and speculations, rumors and facts by the company itself are making it to the headlines every day. Today, in “The New Age Arrival: Gentlemen, Let’s Make Games!”, an event that took place in CEDEC 2013, the forthcoming PS4’s added features and user interface was summarized by Kensei Akiyama of Sony Asia.

The event started off with Akiyama demonstrating the new console, its specifications, concept design and architecture. Some of the features of the console, which were also highlighted earlier during the summer, include huge memory space and solid specs overall. The console has also been praised to be extremely developers’ friendly.

In the CEDEC conference, Akiyama also show cased the new Dualshock 4 controller. The new controller will be better and much more advanced than the Dualshock 3 controller. It will have all the functions and buttons that the previous controller did but aside from that, it also has a multi touch pad that will allow the users to pinch, flick, twist and press while playing games. Moreover, the controller will also have a Share button that will permit users to take snap shots of the games they are playing as well as game activity to share with their friends on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

As far as the menu is concerned, the new console will have a dynamic menu referred to as “PlayStation Dynamic Menu” that according to Akiyama will render real time information to each player. Moreover, the camera on board will support high definition videos and photos. It will additionally have an expanded angle. The camera is said to improve users’ experience while playing games, provided they play the games that are meant to give an enhanced look.

Gamers will also be able to be able to log in with multiple accounts at one point in time on the new PlayStation 4. Another feature of the new console includes the Companion Apps feature that will support iOS and Android devices. This particular feature will permit the players to share information regarding game play with their friends. However that is not it as if any number of gamers connect their device on the same network, they will be able to share the second screen with them. However, first, they will have to link them.

However, that is not all as the best feature, according to my personal opinion, is the ability to play games before they have fully downloaded- the parts of the game that have been downloaded will be playable by the users.

PlayStation 4 will make it to North America on the 15th of November this year. The listed retail price of the console will be $399. On the other hand, it will make a slightly late entry in Europe on the 29th of November and will be available for €399. The same is true for United Kingdom as the device will be hitting the stores in UK on 29th of November and will be priced at £349.
