The Xbox Series X, the stronger version of the (also) newly-released Xbox Series S, was released on November 10th as the fourth generation Xbox console from Microsoft. To date, it has one of the most impressive console specs that support real-time ray tracing, remarkable frame rates, and faster loading times.

Microsoft began work on the Xbox Series X (and S) around 2016, but, despite some swirling rumors as customary in the gaming industry, it wasn’t officially announced until 2019. The Xbox Series X vision was to be at least (or more than) two to four times stronger than the previous generation console, the Xbox One. However, to achieve this, Microsoft needed to separate the components to house the CPU/GPU, power regulators, and other components to make it one of the most impressive consoles to date.

It has been over a month since the Xbox Series X was released, and people are still having trouble getting their hands on the console. In fact, they’re having trouble getting their hands on any of the next-generation consoles, including the PlayStation 5. The internet made merciless memes at the expense of the Xbox Series X’s design, but its boxy design has grown on people. Maybe it’s because, despite what many believed, it fits easily on the average entertainment center. The design was meant to vent heat from the top of the console, which justifies its design for many.

Xbox Series X Loading Times

One of the key features of the Xbox Series X is its loading time. Microsoft inserted a 1TB drive into the Xbox Series X, which has its games load faster than you can take a sip of water. Gone are the days of sitting around scrolling through your Facebook feed while you waited for a game’s loading screen on an older machine.

In fact, a direct comparison between bigger games like Sea of Thieves or Red Dead Redemption 2 showed a reduction in wait time down from half to an entire minute. This is a massive change from the Xbox Series X, and Xbox One X. Even games that weren’t optimized for the Xbox Series X enjoy a shorter wait time on the load screens.

While load screens are great, it’s the performance when running games that makes or breaks one’s decision to purchase a console. Let’s take a look at the performance of the Xbox Series X.

Xbox Series X Game Performance

The smoothness of a game changes every generation. We used to think the first Xbox was the best thing since sliced bread compared to the Super Nintendo or the PlayStation One. However, we’ve been spoiled with improving technology to need to notice the smallest increases in speed and performance.

A lot of games were gated by the weaker CPU in the Xbox One X. The Xbox One X also had a weaker CPU that kept the performance of the games a bit bottlenecked. That does not happen with the Xbox Series X. There is no more stuttering or drops in frame rate, even with more intensive games. The improved CPU, SSD, and GPU help each game run so smoothly, you wonder how they will ever improve it for the next generation of games.

Everything with the Xbox Series X is much faster. It’s definitely an upgrade you’ll want before Halo Infinite or other exciting titles coming out in 2021. However, if you already have an Xbox Series X and want an amazing game to play right now, you should take a look at Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla For the Xbox Series X

When the Xbox Series X launched on November 10th, it coincided with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s launch, a highly anticipated open-world adventure game. Assassin’s Creed was already a well-known franchise, so it’s only fitting they use the game to show off the Xbox Series X console’s amazing capability. With Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, you’re immersed in the lush green environment and blood-splattering battles as it runs at 60 frames per second at 4k.

One of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s big selling points was the improved performances of the male or female protagonist. Players have the choice between the two, so having such amazing performances on top of improved graphics and gameplay makes for an exciting experience for those who need a gauge for the Xbox Series X performance. The new Xbox makes Assassin’s Creed Valhalla one of the most beautiful games you’ve ever seen.

However, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is only one of the few next-generation games the Xbox Series X has out now. With the delay of Halo Infinite, there’s not too much to compare too at the moment, with a lot of Xbox One games playable on the Xbox Series X. We’ll have to wait and see once the Xbox Series X has more next-generation games in its library to play around with.

If you’re thinking about getting the Xbox Series X, now is the time, but we know it’s difficult to get your hands on one now. Just keep your eyes and ears open because it’s worth it.
